All about EDM

EDM is more than just electronic music. EDM is a feeling. EDM is power, its energy. Progressive, uplifting, Rnb, psy, house, electro, hard style, techno, trap, bass. Need more? EDM is attraction, its catchy, it will make you leave you chair and jump with song. EDM is a broad genre of music produced largely for nightclubs, raves and festivals.

Electronic dance music (also known as EDM, dance music, club music, or simply dance) is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres produced largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals. Produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs), EDM is generally used in the context of a live mix, where a DJ creates a seamless selection of tracks by segueing from one recording to the next. The first electronic dance music genre was called "electro," short for "electro-funk," which gained wide appeal in the 1980s.

Like other music genres, EDM has various subgenres that evolved over the past 30 years that are often defined by their varying tempo (BPM), rhythm, instrumentation, and time period. For example; hard style, dub step, trance, electro, hard-core, trap, chill step, chill out, drum and bass, house, and some other genres which came from combinations from the genre above.

EDM music happens to have the following:

1. An Intro - The Producer introduces you to the bass and the basic beat.

2. A Rise - After a few seconds or a minute on the intro, The Producer goes for Rise which rises not only the pitch but also our expectations.

3. The Drop - So we have high expectations now, He has to meet our expectations. So he gives in and meets our expectations like a BAWS dropping' it like he has got more.

4. The End - This part may be long or The Producer may end his beats right here

EDM basically oscillates between two poles : the sensual and the bombastic.

The sensual is represented by house, deep-house, trip-hop, garage, future bass etc. The bombastic by jungle / d'n'b / nose-bleed techno / dub step etc. The sensual is characterized by female vocals, samples of "real instruments", a trance like continuum, jazzy harmonies etc. The bombastic by speed, colour, discontinuity, excessive bass, spectacle.

After 30 or so years of electronic dance music the one thing we can be pretty sure of is that the pendulum always swings back from one pole to the other. If, when you read this, we're currently in a phase of sensuousness, you can be sure that in a year or two there'll be a new bombast. Or if the thing when you read this is some exciting bombast, you can expect that a year or two down the line things will have calmed down considerably. Generally, there are 2 types of people -

1. EDM lovers

2. People who will never get what EDM is and they end up thinking its same beat for like 6-10 minutes.

The current dance trend never stays of course but adopts elements of current pop and deeper underground values. I bet we continue to see EDM's four-on-the-floor roots stay in position (as they've been here since disco) but adopt more and more of the organic side of synthesis and sampling. Streaming/cloud music and internet culture has blended our personal music taste and influences. Producers are incorporating so much more world/international rhythm and sound into pop production. Sometimes subtle, sometimes not. EDM is evolving to embrace this and the EDM news boasts of it too.

Our DAWs (digital audio workstations) can handle extreme sample manipulation and rich, warm synthesis much better than in years past. This means that 1) the mainstream sounds that big names keep cranking out are more and more in the hands of DIY producers who can reproduce them at home without the $3000 keyboard.

This means that bigger producers need to dig deeper to make an impact. Fresh, organic sounds that are unique. I predict a continuation of this trend of turning from super saw leads and webs / played out kits in dance music and a move to eclectic sounds and rhythms that the current underground thrives on. We're seeing this trend more and more.

There was once an era, when Disco ruled the hearts of people and the world. And then came a time when Disco died a natural death, only to be succeeded by Electronic Dance Music or the better known version- EDM. Every now and then, you get to know about all those wonderful artists creating music of top knotch without which each party would have been tasteless at the EDM news.

It is EDM news that helps choose the best music and musician and even stay updated on all the ups and downs and latest trends that are in fashion in the EDM world. EDM is not just some lay form of music but is an actual genre-and this genre has sub-genres within it. When the options are maximum, so will be the audience.

EDM, as you know, has crazy followers because it has a track for every ear. Music and dance festivals are attractive and followed by the audiences with zest! And any music festival is incomplete without the music, or rather- Electronic Music. Tomorrowland, Creamfields and many other dance festivals have promoted EDM and made EDM audible to the audiences all around.

Any upcoming and latest EDM music trend or in case you want to know about the musician, there is nothing better than the EDM news in respect to that. Considering the tons of sub genres and stuff revolving around EDM in today's it's for sure that EDM will evolve and something exciting and innovative will pop out.

Technology is an important factor in it and it's pretty obvious that some party freak/ tech enthusiast will come up with some new innovative feature that will produce something entirely different. Like who knows they might integrate it with VR headsets and stuff and that would then be the latest EDM news of the hour.
